Well played indeed to three of our members who won through to the England Golf Champion Club Finals.
Mel Davey, Kelly-Ann Thring and Gabrielle Auld represented our club in the finals at Hessle GC, near Hull, having qualified by winning the Scratch Cup at the Derbyshire Ladies County Championships earlier in the year.
At Hessle, the trio played well – finishing in a respectable 16th place when competing against rivals from across the country.
Our own Eva Myers was in stunning form when she captained England Schools to victory against their Welsh counterparts at Stoke Rochford Golf Club.
15-year-old Eva led from the front with partner Emily Dixon as they crushed their opponents 7&5 in the morning foursomes.
And Eva’s afternoon form was no less impressive as she brushed aside Welsh Captain Alicia Kelly with a scintillating 7&6 victory.
It led to an impressive 13-8 victory from England in the annual fixture, which members will recall we hosted at Chesterfield Golf Club in 2022.
And word coming back from the Lincolnshire venue was that Eva handled herself impeccably throughout the fixture – both on and off the course – and was an inspirational captain.
For Eva it has been a season of remarkable success with numerous high-profile victories and a handicap which has tumbled to -1.7.
It is richly deserved success for the hard work and dedication of Eva and her support team.
